Since I was a small girl, mom’s reminder to me was to be thrifty and learn how to save for those rainy days. Being a woman who is careful with her money, mom will make it a point to budget on a monthly basis and avoid buying things that we don’t necessary need. Though I wish I could be more obedient to her words, one of the best ways to save money is to work a budget spreadsheet for yourself, updated on a monthly basis. Keeping a budget means listing down your bills, mortgages, what you need for insurance and if you have any loans, that should be listed too. You should also allocate a reasonable amount for your food and personal expenses, transport and set aside an amount to save.
Keeping track of your expenditure makes you aware of your financial situation. With the advancement of computer technology, these things are made easy with word processing and simple accounting software. I use an excel spreadsheet to keep records of our household expenses and that helps to keep our family finances on track.
