I am still on the subject of Oahu but now, we shall look at some local fashion tips…

To blend in with the locals, choose island-style for being casual and plaid shorts and black knee-highs put a tourist label on your forehead. Common sense and TV show tell us that board shorts and t-shirt, with sun hat and cool eyewear is the stereotypical look for the beach. Go ahead to put on a Hawaiian print aloha shirts paired with shorts or slacks and sandals let you blend on day outings exploring the island.

For those plans to shop for island wear, Macy’s in Ala Moana Center on Ala Moana Boulevard has a wide collection of Hawaiian print shirts, blouses, dresses, shorts, and more are stocked at Hilo Hatties on Nimitz Highway. I was told to look for fashion prints at Tommy Bahama or the Aloha Shirt Shop in Waikiki. Also, Reyn Spooner’s collection which includes lovely print shirts and fashionable shorts and dresses. Another one is Kahala, known for their never-wrinkle rayon shirts range from sedate to exhilarating in color.

And for those who crave for International designer labels like Chanel, Gucci, and Yves Saint Laurent plus important accessories, including waterproof watches, Boucheron scents, and catchy eyewear, as well as beautiful island wear, the boutiques at 2100 Kalakaua Avenue in Waikiki have them all.
With prices that ranges according to style, quality and design, island-wear is readily available from high-end fashion shops to street-corner boutiques. Consider tiny tops to loose-fitting shirts, floral prints and bright colors, rubber slippers and sandals are a must. But one friendly warning from the locals – Never ever wear black knee-high socks!

Last but not least, you may prefer to stay away from the tourist crowds and commercialism and if that is what you want, Oahu vacation rentals maybe the place you should start looking. Other wise, you can read up some ideas at the Hawaii travel blog.
