I’m one mom who believes that kids should grow up with some good and inspiring hobbies. Just the other day, my three year old came back with a little paper cup with some soil and sprouts inside. I was delighted to know that the school was teaching kids at his age how life began from a tiny seed. Though I wasn’t sure if Clayton understood what was going on but it was a good start for him, to understand how a tiny seed could become a plant and how vegetables were grown too.

Sad to say, I haven’t been able to find many nature discovery kits in the children’s stores. But thanks to the internet, I came to know about Edmund Scientific. Don’t be intimidated by the name as Edmund Scientific contains lots of fun and interesting kits to educate and stimulate your growing children. I found this Germination Kit which I think is great to show Clayton how plants come to life. The see through container is an ideal way to see how roots are formed and how plants sprung from the soil. At only $11.95, this is one nice educational kit for a young child which will teach them to appreciate nature in simple ways.

There are so many educational and scientific kits at www.scientificsonline.com including astronomy fun, physics and electricity kits, robotics, geology studies and more. I would choose these gifts over superhero figurines and nintendo games, and again, that’s just my opinion.
