a kid’s survival kit on those long flights
In just three weeks’ time, we’ll be heading for a long flight to the US. This is Clayton’s first long flight. When I say ‘long’, I mean more than 15 hours. Previously, he had traveled to New Zealand on a 10 hours flight and he was little then. DH and myself were planning on how to plan his sleeping time in the plane and what sort of activities we can use to occupy him during the entire travel time.
I found this set of Backseat Survival Kit ($15) from a Family Travel Gear site which I thought would be a great item to bring along to keep a child occupied. A full-color book of car-appropriate activities, plus a 100-page write-right-in-it game pad, and a vinyl pouch full of everything you need to do everything described. The only backseat survival kit even endorsed by the Save the Parents’ Sanity Foundation. (familytravelgear.com)

Thanks for the tip on the Survival Kit. We don’t fly much but we do quite a few road trips - and here in Texas that can mean as long as 10-15 hours in the car! Please let me know how this works for you on your trip. I’m always looking for goodies to keep my son busy besides movies or video games!
