cheaper alternatives to London homes

I’ve got a good friend who lives in London with her eye surgeon husband. She’s one of those who is thrifty yet can walk into TODs and buy a leather shoulder bag when she feels like it - very eccentric but genuine and warm. When she first moved to London, she kept complaining to me about how expensive it was to own a tiny flat of only one bedroom, which was the typical sentiment of most Londoners.

It is no wonder that people are moving away from London into cheaper suburbs since you get more for less. Though it requires longer commuting time, this can be substituted by more pocket money and better quality of life. Why pay high Mortgages for expensive London apartments when you get more space for the same price? It seems that Sussex and Surrey have become the popular areas among these individuals which explains why more and more hip and chic retail stores are flooding in those areas too. I’m not surprised that Janet and her hubby may consider the suburbs for a more spacious home especially if they are planning for a family.
