clayton’s kalencom potette
Finally, I got my hands on my newly ordered Kalencom POTETTE® from Amazon and was infact surprised that it was smaller and more compact than I expected it to be! It didn’t take me long to figure out how it works and honestly, I was excited to get my newly trained toddler to use it!
I packed it in his backpack since we were supposed to be traveling for 5 hours in a coach journey. For those who have been on long road journeys with a newly toilet trained toddler, you can expect those ‘I wanna pee’ and ‘I wanna poo’ urgent requests. Those are moments that get parents frantic and nervous especially if you can’t flag the coach driver to stop just for your toddler. Well, the unexpected happened in the coach and Clayton told me he wanted to poo. I was happy enough to whip out the Kalencom POTETTE® and was sure thankful he didn’t mind sitting on this new potty. In less than ten minutes, he did his ‘business’ discreetly on the seat floor and I then bagged up the disposable liner with no trouble at all.
All I can say is this is one good investment (only $10) and is definitely great for parents and toddlers on the go, especially if you are traveling to cities with not-so-clean toilets!
Hear what others have to say about the Kalencom POTETTE® :
“We purchased this for my 4 year old son who is still attached to his diapers. He started pre-school and could not wear diapers so this potty is to be used for the trip to school, home and where ever we go. It folds and has a wonderful travel bag to put it in. It isn’t the largest potty but it is big enough for him to do what he has to do. I put a plastic bag inside with the liner. The liner isn’t very big so the bag will be sure to catch the mess then you just take the bag off and throw in the garbage. The plastic liner that you see in this picture did not come with it when i bought it so i used a plastic bag. It seems to do it’s job well. When we first got it my son tested it in the house. We leave it in the front seat ready to go in the carry bag for easy use. The bigger kids can use it also as long as you have a bag inside under the liner you should be fine.”
“I gave this item 5 stars because it performs well, is cheap, and was described accurately. It is basically a specially-sized, handled bag with an attached absorbant pad to soak up wetness. I really loved these for our recent week-long backpacking trip around Europe. I liked the convenience of having the bags ready with the pad inside and so neatly packaged.
However, for regular use we buy the smallest size of trash bags and toss a disposable nursing pad inside. Perfect! I keep an extra ziploc with a roll of bags and a corresponding number of nursing pads in our car at all times, replenishing as needed. I was skeptical of the need for an absorbant pad at first, but now I prefer it. If you aren’t going to be able to dispose of the potty bag immediately, you definitely don’t want to be carrying around a baggie with a cup of pee inside!
I would purchase these again for a specific trip, but for everyday use I prefer the trash bag/disposable pad method. “
