facts about tanning
I’m quite certain that many of you have heard of melanoma and the harmful effects of long term sun exposure. Lately, I have received many promotional brochures in my mailbox on tanning services. According to Screen, Inc., the UVA rays from tanning salons are 2 - 3X more powerful than the UVA rays which occur naturally from the sun. Not only that, the website reports that men and women who frequent these sun beds were 15 percent more likely to develop melanoma. How risky!
All these years, I have been dabbing my face with sunblock as part of my skin care routine. With my natural tan, I tend to develop brown spots and freckles quite easily. If only I learn about these sun facts at an earlier age, I would have included a good sunblock when I was out in the sun. The only problem was I disliked the sticky film that sunblock left on my skin! Apparently, I have just come to know about a new set of sunscreen products that do not make your skin feel sticky or greasy. The prices seem reasonable and what more, it has received the coveted Seal of Recommendation from the Skin Cancer Foundation. I haven’t tried it but if you need a non-greasy formula for your sunscreen, it’s worth checking out the products from the above link.
