Go Shopping in the Republic
Yesterday was a full one for me as I needed to make a day trip back to the Republic. As much as I had to wake up wee hours of the morning to get ready and head to the airport, the feeling of being ‘home’ was great. I like to go shopping in Singapore, even though it means I’m not buying anything. I managed to take a sneak peek at the new 313@Somerset yesterday – a truly huge and buzzing mall – I was impressed!
Shopping in Singapore has gotten better as the big brands and cult labels are entering the retail market. In terms of choice and variety, there is no lack. I mean, if you can’t get what you want in Orchard road, you may not get it in other places! Sometimes, people prefer to shop elsewhere to compare prices and to get better deals. But from my personal experience, there are more better deals these days in the retail stores when I go shopping, especially after a busy festive season. I was going to restrain my self from any buying but I couldn’t resist the indie, hip and cool clothing at Womb.
I believe the retail market in Singapore will continue to grow as more tourists and locals continue that shopping and spending trend. It amazes me when I hear about people spending thousands of dollars on shoes, bags and clothing. Then again, they help spur the economy! Finding a branded store is as easy as directory submissions in the web with better customer service in the new malls. There are always personnel to assist you when you are lost in your shopping spree!
Though I’m a local, I am often greeting with new shopping deals, surprises and new malls every year. It feels good to witness new things and new trends but I caution myself not to be swept away by consumerism. That’s another topic altogether, I suppose.
Have a Happy New Year.
Don’t Go Shopping Out of Impulsiveness
Finally, Christmas is over and just when I thought that it’s time to sit back and take a break from the malls, the post Christmas sale had begun! I was asked to go shopping with some girl friends this morning but I told myself I had better not to!
It’s so tempting to keep buying when you are in that shopping mood, especially if you are visiting a new place during a vacation. When I was having my holidays, I was tempted to buy things I didn’t even need. But I had reminded myself not to get into this impulsive buying or I would be sucked into the realm of consumerism.
We walked so much during our vacation and DH had to get some knee pain treatment to ease his bad knee. I was glad to buy a pair of Birkenstocks during my trip to Taiwan. It was at least 30% than what I would pay in Malaysia. My birthday surprise came a little late when DH gave a nod to a new 3 Gs iPhone.
The next few days will be some personal reflection on my goals for this year and next. I would definitely be taking a break from shopping at the moment unless the bargains are overly attractive. Do remember not to buy out of impulsiveness when you go shopping. Perhaps, it’s time to warn yourself against consumerism!
Go Christmas Shopping Online
This afternoon, I met a very close friend for tea. She is someone I treasure and I recalled those wonderful days where we would go shopping together, go for high teas and enjoy movies. We had a lovely time catching up with each other.
She surprised me with an early Christmas gift… it was so sweet of her. I was a little embarrassed cos I haven’t had time to shop for my Christmas gifts yet! Then I received an email updating me on some of the online gift stores in the web and came across Joy Gift Store. I did a quick check and saw a varied of gifts and apparel for women, men and kids. There are also lots of ornaments and little Christmas decorations which many of you may need for this coming festive season. You can find jewelry including earrings, necklaces and bracelets, toys for children and teenagers, watches and hobby gifts. Whether you are shopping for your parents, grand parents, brother, sister or close colleagues, I’m sure you can find something that is appropriate for him or her.

Still Love to Go Shopping in Singapore
After two weeks of being away from home, I’m back again. This has been one of the more tiring and challenging trip cos I fell sick on my day of arrival. As a result of that, I didn’t have mood to go shopping and didn’t feel like being out too much.
I was back in Singapore after holidaying in Australia for two weeks. Though I wasn’t able to go shopping for many days in Brisbane and Gold Coast, I could still conclude that Singapore is a better place for shopping. Due to the accessible of most shopping malls, it is easy to get around from mall to mall since most of them are located near the train station. Whenever I’m back in Singapore, there are only a few stores I would visit due to my short time there. Among which are Womb, a local designer store and All Dressed Up, also designed by local designers. I particularly like ‘Womb’ for the unique and chic designs and the store usually carries only less than five pieces for each size. This means you won’t need to worry about your friend next door wearing the same dress as you on a Christmas party!
I also promise a friend to check out some safe weight loss pills in the republic which has seen many beauty and slimming centers sprouting. Singapore is still a great place to shop for lifestyle, beauty and fashion goods at affordable prices.
Now that I’m back, I can only go shopping in Singapore during Chinese New Year. The thing about shopping in Singapore is that you can always get good discounts and best deals during seasonal sale periods. This is surely good news for all keen shoppers who can shop all day till they drop!
Go Shopping Before A Vacation
There are some essentials I would bring along when I’m on a trip, whether it’s a vacation or business trip. I would go shopping few days before my trip and get the things I need for the time away.
This trip, I got myself a USB thumb drive and a new SD memory card for my digital camera. I was going to buy myself a new pair of walking shoes but decided that I had enough for now. As for my little boy, I got him a pair of new Adidas casual shoes since he had outgrown the old one. I was glad I did that cos we did so much walking this trip! I also bought an external hard drive just so that I could store some important documents as well as my new travel photos.
My hubby has to remind me not to go shopping for too much stuff before my vacation. Sometimes I get carried away and end up with things I don’t even need. One more day and I’m leaving Australia for my hometown. It is surely a trip that I will remember for a long time.
