the hype about pilates, pilates classes and pilates dvd

I have always read discussions on the effectiveness of pilates and infact, I’ve been wanting to grab a pilates dvd so that I can work out from home. Pilates have garnered much attention lately in the press and has become immensely popular in the United States and Europe. Broadway and Hollywood stars like Madonna, Vanessa Williams, and Sharon Stone are reported to have participated in Pilates classes or bought some Mind-Body Fitness products or pilates dvds.

When Joseph Pilates developed his plan to condition bodies based on a series of poses held through deep breathing, it was to benefit his patients who were recovering from illnesses and injuries. During his development process he found out that Pilates strengthened the core of muscles that contain the abdominals, back, shoulders and pelvis.

Some critics have denied the claims by Pilates enthusiasts that using Pilates as a weight-loss program is effective.  Many say that Pilates alone will not cause the participant to lose weight.  He or she must diet and use some form of aerobic exercise to see dramatic results in weight loss.  But, was weight loss Joseph Pilates intention, I wonder?

If you are just wanting to lose weight and quickly, maybe Pilates are not the best thing to be doing exclusive of other exercise programs.  But, if you want to increase you flexibility, work on your balance, and strengthen your muscles without overdoing it, then Pilates may the the answer you have been looking for. And if that’s you, why not grab a pilates dvd to get started?

But somehow, I only did well in squash and long distance running while I failed to master tennis, a game that I secretly adored. Read more

I gotta pinch myself to stop clicking on the pages at ShoeBacca but that was hard! Shoes is one of women’s ‘best’ friends and this is also something that is hard to explain to a man. Agree? Well, some of us love certain types of shoes – sandals, pumps, stilettos, mary janes, wedge shoes, slip ons while some may just prefer sports or athletic shoes. Read more

adidas by stella

I visited Stella McCartney’s store in Singapore at the Ngee Ann City Shopping Centre last year. That was probably the first time I saw her signature collection of women’s wear and apparel which reflected modernity and elegance and backed by her love for the environment. Being a lifelong vegetarian, you can only find quality patent leather bags and shoes by Stella though some may lament at the dear price tag to non-leather goods.

yoga wear for mobility

For a long time, I’ve wanted to sign up for yoga or pilates classes since there have been lots of talk and information on how these activities can help to relax both the body and the mind. Though I haven’t done my body balance for a while, I still love to be clad in yoga apparel as they tend to be relaxed in style and comfy in fit.

When it comes to womens yoga clothes, I love the loose and broad bottoms that allow mobility and versatility. They are great as casuals if you don’t practice yoga and I would wear them for a weekend, a casual outing or teamed it with a snug yoga top for a island look. For a peek at a wider collection of yoga wear, check out Yoga-Clothing.com, known for its latest styles and unbeatable service.
