Sheer curtains are partly see-through, and are used either simply decoratively or to allow sufficient light in while keeping the room private. They fasten to a rod in the same way as drapes, but are significantly lighter and often plain white in color. Sheer curtains are often used in combination with heavier drapes, so that the drapes can be closed at night, offering additional privacy when there’s no daylight to let in anyway.
Sheer curtains are usually made of cotton but can also be made of synthetic fabrics. Some have patterns, but the current trend leans toward very thin, plain white designs.
